We join Committee to Protect Journalists’ (CPJ) call for the immediate release of four American journalists arrested in Bahrain, including WAM!mer Anna Therese Day.
Anna and her crew were detained while reporting on the fifth anniversary of mass protests in Bahrain. According to CPJ, the Bahrain Ministry of Interior claims that Anna and three others were taken into custody for “entering the country under the false pretense of tourism and failing to register with the appropriate authorities.”
The Kingdom of Bahrain ranks 163 out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index. Bahrain jailed at least five journalists in 2015, and has a track record of associating reporting on demonstrations with participation in protests.
We need your help. Call the Embassy of Bahrain at 202-342-1111 ext. 9 to demand Anna and her colleagues’ immediate and safe release.
