ONA LA is excited to welcome ONA’s 2017 Women’s Leadership Accelerator (WLA) to Los Angeles – we’ll have special guest speaker Dr. Moogega Cooper Stricker of NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Cooper was profiled by LA Weekly in its 2014 People Issue as one of the city’s most fascinating Angelenos.

According to the LA Weekly, “Cooper, named rainbow or ‘moo-jee-gae’ by her Korean mother and raised by her African-American World War II veteran father, is a human comet of beauty, intelligence and creativity. The scientist graduated from high school at 16, and at 24 earned her Ph.D., then launched her NASA career… The California transplant has known since middle school in Hampton, Va., that she wanted to poke around in outer space.” Her current projects include developing plasma sterilization methodologies and additional sterilization capabilities for future mission use. She is also involved on the Planetary Protection team for both the Insight and M2020 Missions. Apart from her work at JPL, she trains for triathlons and can be seen running or cycling around Pasadena.

We hope you’ll join us for this special conversation (sign up here) and enjoy free food, beverage and lots of mingling – all are welcome to this mixer, both men and women in the journalism community in Los Angeles. WLA is a weeklong forum aimed squarely at developing strong leadership skills for women working in digital journalism. Meet the talented women who are a part of the program, connect with speakers and mentors and say hi to the ONA staff who are in town.

There is an underground ramp at 600 Wilshire Blvd. It is $6 valet in the evenings after 5 p.m. Take the parking ramp elevator directly to floor five for Industrious. The 7th Street/Metro Center stop is two blocks away at Hope and 7th.

The building’s main door locks at 7 p.m., so if you are entering from the street please look for a volunteer who is monitoring the building’s front door. If you are coming from the parking elevator, the elevator will be unlocked to the fifth floor so you can come right up.

Industrious Los Angeles is DTLA’s newest premium coworking space. With a focus on hospitality and design, Industrious offers beautiful common spaces, private offices, and an inviting community.
